IGNITE Record Store — the indie vinyl haven founded by local music legend Rich Perri — has returned, and it’s landed in the heart of Great Western Arcade. The 10-day pop-up is already creating a stir, coinciding perfectly with Record Store Day 2025.

From Tempest Records to IGNITE

A Story Rooted in Birmingham’s Sound

Rich is no stranger to the city’s soundscape. Having shaped local taste through Tempest Records and later founding IGNITE, his curations have always been about more than music — they’re about community, culture and connection. So when Oasis Market closed abruptly and independents like IGNITE lost their space, fans feared the worst.

But true to the DIY ethos he’s championed for decades, Rich bounced back. Within two weeks, he secured a space, restocked his collection and re-opened — just in time for Record Store Day.

Now located within Great Western Arcade, IGNITE is surrounded by some of Birmingham’s best independents — making it the perfect fit. The buzz has been electric: the shop’s return has gone viral across social media, with hundreds of fans celebrating online and in-store.
